Long-term care insurance never used MiamiHerald.com
I have been paying for my husband's long-term care policy with New York Life Insurance since 2003. My husband passed away in January without the long-term care being used. My agent told me that I will be reimbursed a certain amount of money since the long-term care was not used. However, when I called New York Life, I was told that I will not get anything. As such, I would like to know the truth on whether or not I will get anything back for the unused long-term care. Please give me some advice.

A.We contacted New York Life spokeswoman Terri Wolcott.
``Like many insurance coverages, Mr. Vitente's Long-Term Care policy does not accumulate cash value or pay a death benefit,'' she said. ``It does, however, provide for the return of premium paid for coverage beyond the date of the Mr. Vitente's death.''
The return of premium is currently being processed, Wolcott said. ``We have provided Mrs. Vitente with complete information about her husband's policy. We remain available to assist her with any further questions she may have.''
