As far as the left in the U.S. is concerned, the Obama health care improvement proposal is far from perfect. Everyone on the left understands that a single-payer system would be more economical, better for American business interests, insure more people, and reduce costs across the board more effectively.

Obama's proposal is a compromise. It is a lesser evil and an outreached hand to the right which allows them to continue to operate their broken model of super-costly coverage for all but 50 million or so Americans for as long as they can. If they can innovate and compete with the public option they will survive and flourish. Either way, America gets less expensive health care. It's win-win.

Of course, the right understands that their model of for-profit, administration-weighted coverage probably can't compete with a not-for-profit public option, so now they're crying foul and running scared. It's as though if they can't write the rules of the game themselves and
